Creative Connections program

Creative Connections is a creative arts and crafts program for parents and children of all ages. Run with Art Therapy provider Seed of Hope, the program will focus on strengthening the bond between parents and children through creativity and fun. Creative Connections is held during the school holidays, and it comprises of 1 x 2 hour session. All participants receive a take home art & craft pack to continue connecting through art at home. The program is free of charge.

Dads Tuning in to Kids is an evidence based group program for fathers (children would be approximately under the age of 12). The program has 7 x 2 hour sessions. The program will teach you how to help your child understand and manage feelings (‘emotional intelligence’). Children with good emotional intelligence; have better concentration at school, have greater success with making and keeping friends, are more able to manage conflict with peers, and are more able to calm down when upset or angry. The program is free of charge.

Bringing Up Great Kids is an evidence based group program for parents (children would be approximately under the age of 12). The program has 6 x 2 hour sessions. The program uses mindfulness and reflection to assist parents in examining and improving their communication with their children so that they may foster more respectful and positive interactions, which support children’s development and positive identity. The program is free of charge.

The Case Management program supports parents in their parenting role (parents would have at least one child under the age of 12). CaPSS can support individuals or couples over a short term period (support involves approximately 6 sessions). The support you receive can be flexible – CaPSS will tailor what is covered to fulfil your needs and wishes.The program is free of charge.

Healthy eating workshops

Healthy eating workshops focus on educating parents and carers about healthy eating at home and/or school during the early years of development. This program provides strategies for ‘fussy’ eaters and discusses the issue of food insecurity through nutrition education. This program uses a child development perspective to discuss the nutritional needs of children in relation to their cognitive, emotional and physical development. It is facilitated by a registered Dietitian and a CaPSS worker. The program is free of charge.

Cultural cooking

Cultural cooking workshops focus on connecting parents, children, culture and community through the sharing of food. A group participant will share a traditional recipe with the group, cook the meal and talk about how it connects to their family and culture. A registered dietician will provide nutrition education and talk about the importance of traditional foods and how they can fit into a healthy family lifestyle and balanced diet. The meal is then shared amongst group participants! The program is free of charge.

Growing Together

Growing Together is a program for parents that would like to enhance their overall parenting capacity. Parents receive information and tools in relation to child development and behaviour management strategies. It also has a focus on attachment and connection. It upskills parents to teach their children how to regulate their emotions. The program is free of charge.
